Why I Give: Inna

A black and white portrait of a woman, InnaDuring the COVID-19 pandemic, Inna’s company KidKiddos Books saw an uptick in sales, and she decided to donate a portion of her profits to Canadian Feed The Children. When we asked why she chose to give, we were so touched by her response that we had to share. Read to learn more of Inna’s story, and about what giving back means to her, especially during the pandemic.

Inna, thank you so much for your generous support of Canadian Feed The Children. Could you tell us a little about yourself?
I am the founder of KidKiddos Books. We create and publish bilingual children’s books in different languages and support bilingual education. We have more than 30 languages available and our books are sold all over the world and are used by libraries and school boards. I live with my husband and our three kids in Toronto, Canada. We love nature, traveling and spending time together.

Is giving back generally a big part of your life? Did you have an example of volunteering or supporting good causes growing up?
When I immigrated to Canada seven years ago, with three little kids, we were struggling financially and I decided that when my business succeeded, I will donate to organizations that help children. Now, we work with different charities and non-profit organizations to support children’s education.

In addition, we donate books to children that need them the most but can’t afford them. Through our books, we motivate and educate kids to be fulfilled and have a successful life.

How did you hear about Canadian Feed The Children?
During the COVID-19 pandemic, our company had a significant increase in book sales and we decided to donate part of the profit to organizations that would help children during these hard times. It just felt the right thing to do.

Why did you choose Canadian Feed The Children for your donation?
As a mom and an educator, I understand the importance of children’s wellbeing and that the basic needs for kids are food, health and education. I’m happy that I found Canadian Feed The Children that supports the same goal.

Do you think it is important to support children, youth and families in nutrition, education and livelihoods? Why?
Children are our future and to build a better future we need to take care of kids. We need to help them grow into healthy and confident individuals that believe in themselves and know that they can achieve anything they want.

What would you say to someone considering making a gift to Canadian Feed The Children?
Our duty as human beings is to help those who can’t help themselves. To help children and teach them to grow independent and confident is our contribution to the future.

Anything else you’d like to add?
I’m grateful to be able to participate in this important project and encourage everyone to consider Canadian Feed the Children for their future donation.
