Baby Ian* had a special wish for his first birthday: to help other children like him facing hunger around the world. He and his family chose to raise funds for Canadian Feed The Children by setting up an online fundraising page on our Donate Your Day site, along with a Facebook Fundraiser. In total, Ian raised $609! We asked his parents to share his story.
Ian’s dad:
For Ian’s first birthday, we wanted to celebrate in a meaningful way and include all our family and friends. Since most of them live abroad, we felt this online fundraiser was the best way for everyone to participate. Many of them told us how happy they were to be able to donate in his name for his birthday.
Ian’s mom:
It meant a lot to us to be able to help other children like Ian. As a staff member at CFTC, I know that the money we raised will support children in so many ways, from immediate needs like school meals to community-wide programs like livelihood training, food forests, community gardens and farms.
For the future, we hope that Ian and his older sister will be active in their community, advocates for positive change, and always willing to lend a hand when needed. We hope that supporting good causes becomes one of their cherished birthday traditions for years to come. This gift to Canadian Feed The Children is just the beginning!
Thank you to baby Ian and his loved ones for supporting children through CFTC. Happy first birthday!
